Located in the heart of the bustling city of Seattle, the Hyatt Regency is a luxury 46 story sustainable hotel.
The owners wanted permanent protection for the exterior precast cladding system without compromising on the aesthetics of the brilliant white facade or the expense. As the largest, and most environmentally sustainable hotel in the Pacific Northwest with a LEED Gold level rating, an economical yet durable method of permanent low VOC moisture protection was required.
Instead of using a spray applied high VOC sealer at the precast yard, Hycrete Endure WP integral hydrophobic admixture was added to the mix by the pre-caster. This provided an ultra-low absorption concrete mix and eliminated the need for applying a sealer at the production facility.
The Hycrete treated hydrophobic white architectural panels are permanently protected from the harsh Seattle environment and the future costs for re-application have been eliminated for the life of the structure. The aesthetic and sustainable integrity of the structure was enhanced.
